Heavy Haulage
Riley is carrying a load no one else can see. At school, she works hard to fit in—memorising smiles, rehearsing conversations, and hiding the parts of herself that feel too loud, too sensitive, or too different. By the time she gets home, she's exhausted. When Riley's dad compares her mind to a giant haul truck, built for heavy loads and different roads, everything begins to change.
Slowly, Riley learns that she doesn't need to be fixed. She needs understanding, safety, and a crew willing to meet her where she is. Heavy Haulage is a powerful, compassionate story about masking, neurodiversity, family, and finding the strength to be yourself. You don't need to be fixed. You need to be understood.
A strengths-based novel suitable for classroom and wellbeing use.
